Located in the south-east of Thailand it takes roughly three hours from Hong Kong until arrival at the Koh Samui island. You do better when making your booking in Hong Kong since many travel agents offer attractive packages during this low season. Another advantage is the non-stop flight they offer - don't get stuck in Bangkok!
Samui's local airport is located in the nort east of the island. After taking a picture from every visitor you can look for your hotel shuttle - many hotels offer this standard. For hotels over north Chaweng it's just about a 15 minutes ride, therefore very convenient to get there. For the next days or weeks the Thai Baht as the local currency is what you use to pay. It's worth 22 Hong Kong Cents or almost 3 US Cents. Be aware that during our stay not only one bank wanted to give back change for Hong Kong Dollars so you have to change e.g. 500 HKD at one time. That's really annoying! The whole island seems having only one main street that goes around the island. This wasn't so one or two decades ago. Streets are narrow and boardwalks too that sometimes it really gets tight! In addition to that always watch your steps - some electric wires just hang down and you might at risk of getting a electric shock - who knows. The first pictures show the Chaweng downtown area - party tourists love it.
They call it "Safari" and it's a up to one day trip showing you the beauty of Samui's nature and landscapes but also something tourist shows with monkeys, crocodiles or the elephant tracking. Everything set up by the local tour guide. While riding through the jungle there were some places and moments I captured.

Temples are something fascinating in Asia and Koh Samui lines up here as well. Some of them look simple, some look marvelous. Whenever you step inside a temple please put off your shoes - no matter what size of foot you have, yeah. One of those temples shows a mummified monk of an unknown age which skin really looks like a paper made of goatskin. There are plenty of places to go with its beautiful landscapes on every corner. Sun is always out but be aware: the UV index must be pretty high that's why you always should use the sun lotion for your skin protection. It's pretty much easy to get sun-burned within less than one hour - even in November. On day's end Samui offers a lot of ammenities to enjoy, like a Thai massage or nice dinner on the beach. Don't miss that!

At the end of the day where'd you go? There're lots of restaurants along Chaweng's main street making it hard to choose one. The traditional Thai cuisine is most common - don't even miss these small food cars on the street selling those yummy pancakes. Hungry for Indian, Italien or even German food - it's all here. Everything is a little overprized but that's Samui anyway, isn't it? When feeling stuffed it's probably time to take a rest. The picture next actually shows part of the Deluxe room of the Kanda Buri Resort. With the King size bed it's really enjoying to stay here. Everything is clean, well thought through by architects and a pleasure to stay. Some of you may complain about the bathromm doesn't have any door but comes with only a curtain - but it's only a question of getting used to it. While walking over to the beach beautiful houses with a pretty nice light setup decorate the ambiente of the hotel. It's quite relaxed staying at this place over North Chaweng and a tip for everyone who doesn't strive for the party nights. Check out these pictures showing islands beauty at late hours.
