The 2000 Miles Race - A Round Trip thru Southern California

"Silence before Rush: Making all done for the Journey"

Saturday, September 2nd 2006: Now time is right and I'm waiting for the next few days being of duty and wanna enjoy my vacation. Because of too many projects at the same time there was no other date to get away. To get from one place to another ALAMO (a rental car company) was the first choice to rent a car. I had choosen the midsize class while this is the best choice of price, comfort and a good mileage. The car I'm speaking about is the Chevrolet Malibu 3.5L V6 (covered with 155 horse power). And in case I cannot find a (inexpensive) hotel or motel close to my location this car still has enough space to stay overnight on it.

For the next days I planned my route along the Central and Southern California area. And spending one or two days at our Lufthansa Base in Los Angeles was another subject to take this route down along the west coast. On the section at the end of this page you'll get an overview of all the most important stops of that journey. Many photos and useful hints for having a great trip around the US and California.

It's almost imposssible to see all of the attractions the "Sunshine State" offers to you. If you like you can spend a whole week in "Death Valley" or at one of the numerous National Parks - no doubt. In that case you can plan have your overnight stay at a ranch or lodge. It also keeps the distance close to all of those attractions. Because do not underestimate the distances in the U.S.: One trip from San Francisco down to L.A. on the Interstate 5 costs you six hours of time. If you choose riding Highway 1 expect 10 hours and more for your trip. But there is no need to hurry when you see that magnificent coast landscape. And all these little cities and villages along that route are worth it to make one stop ore more. Don't speed - just enjoy it.

Now I'm done with my introduction and short reports and photos of one of the most beautiful place on the States are waiting for you only. And now please have a nice time while reading, looking and enjoying follow pages...
