Summer in San Francisco, CA 94112: Week 20/21

"A weekend ride in 'n out of San Francisco (Part II)

A new day has come and today's route starts in the north of the city. After passing the Golden Gate bridge on the 101, fare-free for outbound traffic, one of the first freeway exits will lead you to a viewpoint of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Here you'll get a magnificient view over northern San Francisco. Always crowded it isn't easy to find a parking slot at all. But the view pays off all the hassles. As you can see this place and road is also a famous spot for bicyclists too. I left it and next stop was Sausalito - a city far away enough to escape the rush of San Francisco but still close to enjoy all amenities. Needless to say that you have to spend much bucks out of your pocket for living in such a gorgeous residence. To see the little harbour with its pretty nice boats is a pleasure to everyone. Ride goes on and Tiburon is one of the next. A small city with a character of a village. When you climb up the hills you'll face all these exclusive located mansions of people who don't care about the money anymore. You'll get what you'll pay for it.

Oakland isn't far anymore - situated across the bay in the north-north-west of San Francisco. But before we'll arrive another point with one of Californias' most notorious prinsons: San Quentin. It isn't located obviously at all. Only a sign, an old watchtour as well as a armored guard on the exit are revealing that secret. To return to the city you have to use one of the bridges to cross the bay. I choose the Baybridge where the inbound toll is $3.00 while passing over the Golden Gate Bridge costs you $5.00. Probably it's a question of time only: after finishing the construction of the new Bay Bridge the fare probably gonna raise up to the same amount like the Golden Gate Bridge. Before you reach the toll gates of the Bay Bridge you have to choose the lane that is proper for you. Because of the fact that they have lanes called "FastTrack" for cars with an electronic ticket behind the windshield you have to make shure that you don't choose that but the lanes for cash. Otherwise you get in trouble and you gonna be fined plenty. On the middle of the Bay Bridge there is an exit that leads you straight to Treasure Island. Formerly an old Army base but now a small district for people living there. Most of them have small income The prices aren't expensive while possible military refuses of the past are still there. A strange mood overcome ones when you walk through these community with its old and abandoned houses. Some of them inside look like they were left behind a few days ago - a really weird mood that place spreads out but always worth a visit.
